The clients (a young couple from Pune City) aspired to build a holiday home in their ancestral forest land at bhor. They mentioned - it to be as removed from the city & it's context as much as possible for them to really feel like they are on a vacation for the weekend trips they aspired to do every few weeks there.

Our suggestion that we could go for a machan / tree house concept, with minimal impact to the site & surrounding was well received. The key advantages of going for this type of structure was to maxmise on views & sunlight, minimise on disturbing the land & to minimise the proximity of the house to the multitude ants, termites insects that inhabited the land.

The design incorporated R.C.C Pillars for stilt, large roof overhangs to keep the internal structure dry over the heavy monsoons & to create shaded spaces to relax close to nature, light walls made of wattle & daub. What resulted in is a home hidden in the woods amidst nature.
